John Lermayer
John Lermayer has spent the better part of the last ten years as one of Miami’s top mixologist. He began his career at Morgans Skybar at Shore Club and was later handpicked by designer Lenny Kravitz and Morgans Vice President of Nightlife Ben Pundole to take the helm at The Florida Room as head bartender. At The Florida Room, Lermayer has garnered international acclaim, having created one of the most extensive and innovative cocktail menus in Miami using only the freshest ingredients to handcraft cocktails to perfection.
John has found success on the cocktail competition circuit both nationally and internationally. In 2008, he was selected by the founding members of BAR (Beverage Alcohol Resource) to receive the Chuck O'Conner Scholarship and later that year was handpicked by cocktail guru Dale Degroff to participate in the mixology competition at the 2008 Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, where he won first place in the “Bar Chef Challenge.” John was named on of the Top Ten Hotel Bartenders in the World by Travel and Leisure Magazine, while The Florida Room was named Top Ten Cocktail Bars in the country by USA Today. John appears regularly on NBC 6 Miami’s South Florida Today Show and creates cocktails on live television for 3 million viewers. John has also appeared on Fox News, MSNBC, and Mixing with Best with Grant Collins. His creations and expertise have been published in Miami Herald, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, 944, Beverage Journal, Market Watch, Ocean Drive, Where Magazine, USA Today, NY Post, Hamptons Magazine, and Imbibe!.
John is currently the National Ambassador and Representative for Contemporary Cocktails, Inc., the Miami ambassador for Cabana Cachaca, and recently teamed with Robert Burr and Ian Burell to produce Rum Renaissance in Miami. John also continues to tend bar at the Florida Room in Miami Beach. Friends know him as an astute lover of Hockey, tequila, and life.
